HISTORY OF BLINDSINABOX LTD
In 2003, Simeone Salik and her husband bought a plot of land to build a chalet bungalow for their retirement. The process took 2 years to complete, and once they moved in chose not to order their curtains immediately as they wanted to make their decision once they were living in the house. As soon as they had chosen what they wanted they ordered them through their interior Designer Janice Dalton who runs Imagine Designs and as expected, had to wait several weeks for the curtains to be made.
During this time Simeone tried to obtain some inexpensive blinds as a temporary solution to provide some privacy and also to keep the light out of the bedroom but despite a nationwide search found that there was nothing suitable currently available. So she decided to make some herself, realising that there was an obvious gap in the market particularly for people like her who were moving into a new home and wanted privacy from prying eyes.
Janice, who is a qualified interior designer and extremely talented, thought the blinds were a fantastic idea and one that designers, curtain makers and suppliers would be able to utilise to help themselves and their clients equally. She was very keen to join with Simeone to form a company.
They were introduced to businessman Dominic Lawrence who helped to find a suitable manufacturer, and BLINDSINABOX Ltd was born.
