Blackout Blinds

Blackout blinds are specifically designed to keep sunlight out of a room, which can also significantly reduce the amount of heat in a room. Blackout blinds are made with slats of fabric, wood or plastic and can be adjusted from an open position to a closed position by allowing the slats to overlap one another.

There are in fact many different types of blackout blinds available and they have been in existence as far bag as ancient Egypt when the Pharaohs would have blinds made out of reeds. One of the most common types of blackout blind is Persian or slat. They can be either horizontal or vertical and made of a stiff fabric, metal or vinyl. Alternatively you can choose Venetian blinds, which have horizontal slats, one above the other. These can be made of strips of cloth, metal, plastic or wood. Venetian blinds can typically be rotated a full 180 degrees giving the owner excellent control over the amount of light entering the room.

Blackout blinds have been used for hundreds of years for a very good reason. They are effective, easy to use, stylish and inexpensive. Everyone appreciates privacy, having the right amount of light in a room and the ability to control temperature. With blackout blinds you can control all of these and without having to spend a huge amount of money. They are also quick and easy to install.

Installing blackout blinds is an easy procedure which can be carried out in a short amount of time. The first step is to measure your window width. For windows smaller than 91.5cm (36in) wide carefully trim the blind using a utility knife or scissors. Then peel the tape back from the blind and stick it to the desired window frame. When you want to open the blinds simply gather up the pleats and secure with the enclosed clips.
